Climbing
The Organ Mountain highlands are home to the 9000 foot tall sawtooth ridge with bold slab run-out routes on pointed monsonite spires. Classic multi-pitch lines and several bigwall grade IV routes are the main course. But the mountain range also contains some excellent bouldering at La Cuevas and in the Pena Blanca foothills.

Getting There

Auguirre Springs

The Aguirre Spring Campground is located on the east side of Organ Mountains, east of Las Cruces in Dona Ana County. Take U.S. 70 for 14 miles east of the I-25/U.S. 70 interchange in Las Cruces, then turn south on the Aguirre Spring Road (1.1 miles after San Augustine Pass) for six miles. At mile 4 the road becomes a one-way loop and climbs steeply. Park Info

Dripping Springs (La Cuevas)

The Dripping Springs Natural Area is located 10 miles east of Las Cruces, on the west side of the Organ Mountains. From Exit 1 on Interstate 25, take University Avenue/Dripping Springs Road east to the end. It is open all year, except winter holidays, from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 p.m. Phone: 505.522.1219 Park Info

Pena Blanca
To get to the Talavera unit and the south part of the Organ Mountains unit, take the Mesquite exit #151 off of I-10, about 10 miles southeast of Las Cruces. Head northeast from the interstate on the well-graded gravel road. The Talavera unit is on the north side of the road after you cross under the second set of power lines about 3 ½ to 4 miles from the interstate. The Organ Mountains unit is on the north side of the road about 4½ to 5 miles northeast of the interstate. Open range crag.
